As the summer warmed the Finnish lakes, I wanted to try swimming in Edwardian style. So, I decided to make my own Edwardian bathing costume consisting of combinations and a skirt. I didn’t use a specific pattern or an inspiration image but tried to combine elements I have seen on period bathing costumes. I documented the whole project on video and the link to the video is down below. You can even see me swimming in the finished costume!

The finished bathing costume in pictures
We travelled north to spend some time at my parents’ summer cottage. That was a perfect opportunity to test out the Edwardian bathing costume. The weather was beautiful and the summer sun had warmed out the lake water. Here are some pictures we took:
All in all, this was a nice little project and I like how it turned out. The only thing I will have to fix later is the skirt waistline that is a bit too loose. You can clearly see in the pictures, how it tends to slide down from the waist and the effect was even more clear when swimming. Luckily, I only need to move the hook and eye to fix it.
