1912 corset

A 19-teens corset from a 1912 pattern

I attended a Titanic-themed dinner a while ago and thus had to make an outfit fit for the first class. The first thing to make was a proper 19-teens corset. Luckily I have a sewing book published exactly 1912 (the year Titanic sank) with a free pattern! So, I decided to use it to make myself a corset.

The book: Kukin oma ompelijansa that you can download from this site!

Of course, the pattern was in a miniature form and came in one size only. Therefore, I needed to first enlarge the pattern and then fit it to my body shape. Watch the video to see the whole process!

Here is the corset from the back. I laced it with a matching satin ribbon. The ribbon is not the sturdiest material for lacing but as I am not going to wear this often, it doesn’t really matter.

The garters keep my stockings up. The back garters were a bit cumbersome to attach but I managed!

The next time you will see how my gown turned out! Thank you for reading! See you soon!
