Couture jacket project, part 1: Planning and materials
My next big project in the art of couture and tailoring will be a couture jacket. My inspiration is the Regent Landlord Blazer by Lena Hoschek and I chose to use Marfy pattern #1989 as a starting point for the look.
Floral dresses for girls
My daughters friend E has been looking at the dresses I make for S and and asked me to make a similar dress for herself, too. This gave me an opportunity to test my Maiden of Finland dress pattern again. Since E was a little taller than S and the winter is coming, I made her a size bigger, so that it will be perfect for next summer. Following E’s wishes, I left out the collar. I again used gorgeous cotton from Nuppu print company. The fabric in E’s dress is called Näsiä. S got a new dress, too! The fabric in S’s dress is called Sydäntalvi. Due to the big pattern…

I sewed a ruffled wool coat for my daughter and lined it with thick quilted and wadded fabric. The pattern was from the Finnish magazine Suuri Käsityö.
