My moneta dress

OK. I am probably the last sewing blogger on Earth that makes the Colette Patterns’ Moneta dress. I have admired all the dresses others have made but it took some time for me to purchase this pattern, since I was more into woven fabrics. I have, however, a great need for comfortable clothes to wear at home and this dress seemed to be perfect lounging around dress.

Moneta is a very versatile pattern with sizes ranging from XS to 3XL. It has sleeve options ranging from a completely sleeveless version to full sleeves. The pattern has one optional collar included but you can download Moneta Extras for free to get five more collar options.

I had this gorgeous mustard coloured viscose jersey in my stash that I picked up some time ago at Eurokangas remnants section. After checking the sizing chart I chose to make the top of the bodice in size XS and from the bust down in size S.

This dress was super quick to sew. I serged all the seams and used my cover stitch machine for all the hems. I did not follow the instructions very carefully since this was such a simple dress to make, but I did use clear elastic to gather the skirt which was surprisingly easy thing to do. Before I have used zig-zag stitch to sew the elastic on but the instructions recommended basting stitch which was much easier to do.

The finished dress is lovely! I love the colour and it feels super comfy. I think, however, that I should make a bigger size next time. The sizes seem to be very snug and the viscose jersey clearly shows every lump and bump underneath. I can recommend this pattern for everyone. It is very easy for even a beginner to make and I think it would suit very different body types.

Thank you for visiting and see you soon! Happy sewing!

I am a mother of two. I sew, knit and create and blog about it.
