    Another Lekala #5088 pencil skirt

The free Lekala #5088 was such a great pattern that I made two in one go. (If you have not seen the previous one, click here). This time I used a completely different fabric and added an exposed zipper at the back. I found this fabric as a short bolt end at Eurokangas and I had to buy it. It is striped boucle with some metallic threads woven in. The fabric had just enough length for me to cut the skirt and the waistband with only small scraps left over. The boucle was fraying like crazy, so I quickly serged all the edges. I have never made an exposed zipper…

Back button blouse and a trick for a neater understitching

This blouse 4655 from Lekala was published only a few weeks ago and I bought it almost immediately. The blouse has a fairly loose fit and a ruffled peplum. The shaping consists only of bust darts making it fairly quick to make. I also like the cuffs with the slits in them even if I ended up changing the design a bit when sewing it up. I usually get confused if I read Lekala’s instructions, but luckily…

I am completely in the spring mood and I’m wearing my newest dress I made using Lekala pattern #4279. I mentioned getting this pattern free and was thinking of all kinds of romantic fabrics until I realised that the flounces need a more masculine fabric for the dress not to be overwhelmingly romantic. So I got this navy blue viscose from my stash that did not really appeal to me immediately. What I thought however was that when the…

    Spring blouse (Lekala 4420)

I found this wonderful viscose fabric from the remnants section of the local Eurokangas fabric shop. I think that the colour works nicely with the beiges and nudes of my spring wardrobe so I decided to make a blouse of it. I have made Lekala 4420 blouse once before and after going through several other pattern options I decided for it. I made a few modifications. First, I left out the center front seam, then I took a quite a bit out from the width of the sleeves that were a bit too much for my taste and finally I decided to replace the clasp above the keyhole opening with narrow ties.…
