    1950s dress McCall’s M7748

    I made a gorgeous McCall's M7748 dress to wear for my cousin's wedding. This pattern is from the Archive collection and approximately from the year 1957. This dress took me several days to make but I can say that taking the time really pays off with this dress and the final dress fits and looks nice.

    Shirred dress in yellow

    Some time ago S found a necklace at a local flea market and bought it. She showed me the picture of a brown haired girl on the pendant and she wanted a similar dress that was on the girl. I thought this gave me a perfect opportunity to practice my skills and make a shirred dress. This mustard yellow jersey knit has been in my stash for quite some time and the colour matched exactly. I, however, wanted something practical that S could wear over the summer. As I had learned how to shirr early this spring I decided to make a shirred dress with tied straps and a frilly hem.…

    I got this fabric from Artenio at the same time with the mustard yellow one for this Amelia dress. It took me quite some time to decide on the pattern. I did not have a lot of fabric so many dresses with their circle skirts were unfortunately out of question. Finally, I decided to make the 1940s tea dress by Sew Over It.
