Ottobre design woman 2/2018 10. Norma blouse
I made the 1940s inspired summer blouse using the Norma blouse pattern from Ottobre design woman 2/2018 magazine. This is an easy to sew pattern with vintage-like details like gathers at the shoulders and a notched collar. Read my review!
Sparkly cat tunic using Ottobre 1/2015 23. Peplum
Reversible sequin patches are in among little girls these days. We went hunting for nice tops among the high street shops but couldn't find anything in S's size. So I promised to make her some myself. The Ottobre 1/2015 23. Peplum was a good pattern to use as a base.
Sew Over It Rosie skirt for the spring
I made a skirt version of the Sew Over It Rosie dress using a beautiful floral fabric. However, this make wasn't so successful. I ended up estimating my size wrong and then damaged the front of the skirt by ripping a thread with a sharp pin.
Random triangle quilt
Our living room needed some brightening and I decided to make a random triangle quilt to replace the old and ratty wool blanket. I selected a bunch of black and white, gray and mustard yellow fabrics to suit our living room colours. This being only my second quilting project I am very happy with the outcome.
Violette Field Threads Hazel pinafore
I made my daughter S and her friend E matching Hazel pinafores using the pattern by Violette Field Threads. This is a skirt pattern with lots of options to add a pinafore, an apron or different decorations in the form of ruffles and bows.
Amelia Tea Dress pitkähihaisena/with long sleeves
I made a vintage style floral dress out of mustard viscose I got from Artenio. The pattern is the Amelia Tea Dress by Simple Sew patterns but I modified the pattern by replacing the flutter sleeves with long ones.
Oldies: Retro jackets from tablecloths
I sewed these retro jackets about 8 years ago for my son and my daughter wore them after him. I made the both jackets with matching caps out of old tablecloths I found from flea markets. What I love about this kind of retro projects is the pattern matching. The big patterns from the 60s and the 70s are both a challenge and an inspiration. The look of the garment changes completely by placing the pattern pieces on the fabric in a different way. The pattern for these jackets came from vintage Elsebeth Gynther’s pattern book called Ompele Lapselle (translated from a Danish book: Börnetöj du selv kan sy). I…
From dress to a blouse Simplicity 1587 pattern hack
Immediately after seeing the Simplicity 1587 pattern I fell in love with the bodice. After I made the dress I started wondering if I could turn the pattern into a blouse. I used a well-fitting blouse pattern as a guide to draw a pattern for the lower half of the blouse and used yellow viscose fabric.
Raindrop winter dress (Ottobre 04/2017 12.)
I had bought this nice knit fabric with colourful raindrop pattern to make something for my daughter. I chose the Shy Bear dress pattern from Ottobre 04/2017 that I like a lot.
Prague blouse by Orageuse
I tested the newest pattern from the French sewing company Orageuse. This long-sleeved loose-fitted blouse pattern has a turtleneck collar with buttons in the back and an optional deep v-neck opening in front. I made my version out of floral polyester satin.
