My favourite Zinnia and the Pussy Bow blouse
This time I want to show you two of my favourite self-made garments. I already mentioned previously that I have made several skirts using Colette Zinnia pattern. This is my favourite one for winter – in fact, I’m wearing it right now!
I have used this tweed fabric a lot, since it is super comfortable and doesn’t wrinkle easily. It also drapes well, as you can see. To make most of the fabric that I had I made the pleats in the pattern a bit deeper. Then I wanted to add something extra by sewing a black sating piping to the edge of the waistband and attaching a tab at the center front.
I have been looking for a perfect pattern for this dragonfly crepe for a while. I already tried making a short sleeved blouse using another pattern but it did not succeed very well. This time I used Pussy Bow blouse pattern by Sew Over It. I had practiced already by making two blouses so I was sure of the fit. I modified the pattern by removing the center-front seam and replacing the v-neck with a slightly higher key-hole opening.
I really like how the blouse turned out. It was also a really easy to sew because a lot of time consuming details such as darts and sleeve slits had been had been purposefully left out.

Hi hi, I am making this blouse now, the version with the keyhole neckline, and would also like to remove the center front seam. How did you finish the neckline? The pattern uses a double fold hem but I’m not sure if this would work without the front seam.

You can finish the neckline by sewing on a facing. Just draft a facing pattern by using the front pattern. It is useful to interface the facing to keep it flat under thr slit.

Gotcha, thank you so much!
