Reversible sequin patches are in among little girls these days. We went hunting for nice tops among the high street shops but couldn't find anything in S's size. So I promised to make her some myself. The Ottobre 1/2015 23. Peplum was a good pattern to use as a base.
I made my daughter S and her friend E matching Hazel pinafores using the pattern by Violette Field Threads. This is a skirt pattern with lots of options to add a pinafore, an apron or different decorations in the form of ruffles and bows.
I had bought this nice knit fabric with colourful raindrop pattern to make something for my daughter. I chose the Shy Bear dress pattern from Ottobre 04/2017 that I like a lot.
I designed this sports outfit for my 7-year-old daughter who is into circus and break dancing. My daughter chose the pink fabric with the flame pattern and I added some black jersey to make the outfit less restless. I am super happy with this unique outfit that I drafted from the scratch!
Talven juhlakauden koittaessa jokainen tyttö tarvitsee juhlavan mekon. Eurokangas lahjoitti minulle ystävällisesti kankaita ja ompelumateriaaleja ja niistä syntyikin sitten upea asu kaikkiin vuodenvaihteen rientoihin.
My daughters friend E has been looking at the dresses I make for S and and asked me to make a similar dress for herself, too. This gave me an opportunity to test my Maiden of Finland dress pattern again. Since E was a little taller than S and the winter is coming, I made her a size bigger, so that it will be perfect for next summer. Following E’s wishes, I left out the collar. I again used gorgeous cotton from Nuppu print company. The fabric in E’s dress is called Näsiä. S got a new dress, too! The fabric in S’s dress is called Sydäntalvi. Due to the big pattern…
I sewed a ruffled wool coat for my daughter and lined it with thick quilted and wadded fabric. The pattern was from the Finnish magazine Suuri Käsityö.
This yellow ribbed jersey was just perfect for Ottobre design 4/2017-19 Black Rabbit pattern that is a modern loose fitted turtleneck. The collar and the cuffs were cut of single fabric and edges were finished with rolled hems that were made with a serger.
Hi there! This time I want to show some pictures of my daughter with her new animal friends. She is is wearing her new quilted sweater I made using a pattern from Finnish magazine Suuri Käsityö (9/2016). I used the same fabric as I used before to make myself a sweater. The original pattern had bound neckline and gathered hem but I chose to make a simpler version and just turned the neckline and the hem and used my cover stitch machine to finish them. The sleeves have cuffs that have slits in them. My children’s second cousin has two dogs and a horse that just had a foal this year.…
S’s teacher recommended having indoor shoes at school, so I took the opportunity to practice my leather sewing skills. Finnish sewing blogger Maria has generously published a free pattern and a tutorial for kids’ leather slippers. Unfortunately the tutorial is in Finnish, but luckily there are enough pictures to explain the steps. Leather is not very easy to find around here, especially if you don’t want to pay a lot. I took a trip to the local recycling center that is an amazing place. People donate stuff they don’t need and the staff sorts them out and sells them at a cheap price. All the profits go to charity. They have quite…
